Description

Possesses inhibitory activity against fungi and yeasts. Staurosporine, MP Biomedicals is an antibiotic that is isolated from Streptomyces species. It is a potent inhibitor of phospholipid/Ca2+-dependent protein kinases and is used to study the involvement

Starosporin is used to study the involvement of protein kinases in signal transduction pathways. It arrests normal cells in the G1 checkpoint and is a potent inhibitor of Protein kinase C and other protein kinases in vitro and in cultured cells. It is an inducer of apoptosis in many mammalian cell types.

  • Potent inhibitor of phospolipid/calcium dependent and cyclic nucleotide dependent protein kinases
  • Useful as a tool for studies on protein phosphorylation in the regulation of cellular functions
  • Inhibits the upregulation of VEGF expression in tumor cells
  • Partially reverses MDR, sensitizing cells with MDR phenotype to cytotoxic agents
  • Inhibits Pgp phosphorylation (functional significance of Pgp phosphorylation is ill defined)
