Can I repair Multidrop Combi small tubing cassettes or replace the tubing in them, instead of purchasing a new cassette?

No, you cannot repair or replace the tubing in the Multidrop Combi small tubing cassettes. If you attempt to do so, the cassette may not function properly. The small tubing cassettes incorporate either plastic tips or metal tips. While metal tip cassettes will last longer than plastic tip cassettes, once the tubing in a cassette wears or reaches its end of life (EOL), the entire cassette will need to be replaced with a brand-new cassette.

Can the SMART cassettes with RFID tags be used with the standard Multidrop Combi without SMART option or vice versa?

Yes, the cassettes are interchangeable, however, the calibration data cannot be viewed and the information about the cassette is not updated. Also standard cassettes can be used with the Multidrop Combi with SMART option.

What should I do if the liquid foams during dispensing with the Multidrop Combi?

Some liquids foam more easily than others. One option is to reduce the pump rotor speed. There are three dispensing speeds available: High, Med (medium), and Low.

What materials come into contact with liquids to be dispensed by the Multidrop Combi?

The Small tube plastic tip dispensing cassette, Cat. No. 24073290, and the Standard tube dispensing cassette, Cat. No. 24072670, are made of: PEEK, silicone, and PP (polypropylene).
The Small tube metal tip dispensing cassette, Cat. No. 24073295, is made of: PEEK, silicone, ruby, and stainless steel.

Do particles in the reagent affect dispensing with the Multidrop Combi?

Possibly. It is recommended that you ensure that there are no particles greater than 50 μm in the reagent to avoid blockage of the tips, especially when working with small tube cassettes.

What is the tip inner diameter (ID) of the dispensing cassettes of the Multidrop Combi?

The tip inner diameter (ID) is either 0.22 mm (Small tube plastic tip dispensing cassette, Cat. No. 24073290, and Small tube metal tip dispensing cassette, Cat. No. 24073295), or 0.5 mm (Standard tube dispensing cassette, Cat. No. 24072670).

Can the dispensing cassettes of the Multidrop Combi be recalibrated?

Yes, refer to the user manual for instructions.

When do you have to calibrate the dispensing cassettes of the Multidrop Combi?

We recommend that you verify the calibration at least monthly, depending on the frequency of use and the liquids used.
Note: The recalibration procedure can be performed by the user and is detailed in the operations manual, hoowever, the manual is only a recommendation. This varies for many reasons, but is up to the user to determine what is best based on their SOP. We do recommend that the cassettes are checked, but we leave that frequency up to the user. Also, the SMART cassettes help remove the guess-work, as they indicate when the next calibration check is due. Users typically check them after their recommended end of life (EOL) if they haven't noticed any issues previous to this time frame. Refer to the user manual for details pertaining to EOL.

What liquid is recommended for washing the Multidrop Combi tubing?

It is recommended that you use deionized distilled water and/or detergent solutions, for example, 0.2–1% Tween followed by deionized distilled water.

Does the dispensing cassette of the Multidrop Combi include a calibration certificate?

Yes, all dispensing cassettes include a factory calibration report.

What is the dead volume of the dispensing cassettes of the Multidrop Combi with 40 cm tubing?

The dead volume of the dispensing cassettes of the Multidrop Combi with 40 cm tubing is as follows:
1.2 mL with the small tube cassette (40cm)
7 mL with the standard tube cassette (40cm)
Dead volume can be recovered using the Empty button on any of the dispensers with up to a 99% recovery rate.

What are the autoclaving conditions for the dispensing cassettes?

The autoclaving conditions are as follows: 1 bar pressure at 121 degrees for 20 minutes.

How many times can the Multidrop Combi dispensing cassettes be autoclaved?

The dispensing cassettes can be autoclaved 10 times for the small tube cassettes or 50 times for the standard tube cassettes.
