The presence of charcoal in the medium neutralizes bacterial toxins and other inhibitory substances and prolongs the viability of pathogenic organisms. Amies Agar Gel with Charcoal Transport Swabs come with soft rayon tips, which are inert and non-toxic to microorganisms.
