Applications
6-Methylheptanoic acid is used as a reagent to prepare eponemycin analogues, which is an antibiotic. Further, it is an active component of the scent chemical of the brushtail possum. In addition to this, it is used in the preparation of 6-methyl-heptanoyl chloride.
