Goat Polyclonal Antibody

In Western blots, approximately 30% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) Galectin-9 is observed. In direct ELISAs and Western blots, less than 2% cross-reactivity with rhGalectin-1, rhGalectin-2, rhGalectin-3, rhGalectin-7, rhGalectin-8, recombinant mouse (rm) Galectin-1, rmGalectin-3, rmGalectin-4, and rmGalectin-7 is observed. Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by this gene is an S-type lectin. It is overexpressed in Hodgkin's disease tissue and might participate in the interaction between the H and RS cells with their surrounding cells and might thus play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease and/or its associated immunodeficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
