Accurately isolate and identify common microorganisms associated with Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) using Thermo Scientific™ Columbia CNA Aesculin Selective Agar / Brilliance™UTI, a single bi-plate which includes two separate formulations.
Read more results from a single patient sample and produce more diagnostic details of pathogenic organisms while reducing storage capacity issues in the incubator with a bi-plate that includes two widely used microbiological media.
On one side of the plate, Columbia CNA Agar with Asculin isolates Gram-positive organisms from clinical samples with this selective microbiological medium traditionally used to identify staphylococci and streptococci because it provides clear haemolysis and typical growth for S. pneumoniae (dent morphology).
On the other side of the plate, Brilliance UTI isolates, enumerates and presumptively identifies relevant pathogens causing urinary tract infections in 16 to 24 hours. It is a chromogenic medium which differentiates enterococci and Klebsiella spp. easily with distinct color targets which grow on an opaque background. The medium differentiates between coliforms and enterococci, and an improved TDA reaction aids the identification of Proteus, Morganella and Providencia species. Presumptive identification of E.coli can be confirmed using a rapid indole test (DMAC) (MB1448A) for same day results. Chromogens in the formulation help identify key urinary pathogens through the production of distinctive diagnostic colors.
