Description
PA1-7206 detects Candida albicans. PA1-7206 has been successfully used in ELISA, immunohistochemistry, immunoblot, and immunofluorescence procedures. The PA1-7206 immunogen is Candida albicans, type A. Recommended short term (up to 6 months) storage is liquid at 2-8 °C. For longer term storage, aliquot and freeze.
Candida albicans is the most frequently isolated fungal pathogen of humans, affecting immuocompromised patients ranging from premature infants to AIDS sufferers. Systemic infections have an attributed mortality of 30-50%. C. albicans is a diploid organism which has eight sets of homologous chromosomes. Its genome size is about 16 Mb (haploid), about 30% greater than S. cerevisiae (baker's yeast).
