Wellcolex™ Color Shigella Kit
Rapidly detect and presumptively identify Shigella by latex agglutination.
Brand: Thermo Scientific Oxoid R30858401
Description
Provide a simple, rapid qualitative procedure for detection and species identification of Shigella spp. present on solid culture media with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Wellcolex™ Color Shigella.
Shigella strains are classified into four species, Shigella boydii, Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella flexneri and Shigella sonnei. The classification may be achieved by serological tests on the basis of cell-associated O‑antigens, according to which the species may be further subdivided into serological types. Wellcolex Colour Shigella Kit provides a rapid simple serological procedure for species identification of the majority of Shigella serotypes encountered in clinical bacteriology.
Use this rapid agglutination test for detection and identification of Shigella spp. from culture media.
- Identifies major groups of Shigella serotypes encountered in clinical bacteriology.
- Utilizes advanced color technology for clear, easy-to-read species and/or serogroup identification
- Provides accurate, reliable results in two minutes
In Wellcolex Colour Shigella Kit, a suspension of bacteria is reacted with two test reagents, each consisting of a mixture of red and blue latex particles. Each colored latex is coated with antibody specific for a different Shigella species. In the presence of homologous antigen one of the colours in a mixture will agglutinate, and the identity of the antigen is indicated by the colour of the aggregated particles with a contrasting change in the colour of the background. Each combination is easily distinguished from the others and from a negative result in which the particles remain in smooth purple suspension.
